Kino Todo is an ascending Israeli DJ and producer who’s generating waves in the electronic music scene for his versatile, eclectic tunes that transcend a multitude of genres like electronica, trip-hop, breakbeat, and house music. Groovy melodies accentuated by cultural influences and tribal rhythms, his mature tunes have attracted an expansive audience based on its global, remarkable appeal, for he’s released tracks on distinguished labels like Life & Death, Disco Halal, and Blue Shadow, and is set to debut his first album next month on his very own label, Pop Tomorrow.
The skilled performer first immersed himself in electronic music by listening to EDM as a kid and didn’t feel that there was anyone specific that influenced him to become a DJ-producer, though at the start of his career, Kino has found that Red Axes have been the most prominent in helping to introduce the newcomer to the scene. Grateful for the opportunity to release his musical creations to the world, he expresses how his first single “Gidafa Na” placed him on the map as it became a huge hit when it was released a few years ago. Since then, the ambitious musician has performed at illustrious venues and festivals like DGTL, ADE, and Circoloco and hopes to continue “seeing new artists that aren’t bound by a defined genre” which is certainly becoming more common nowadays.
The Tel Aviv-based artist finds that although the electronic music scene there is not that large compared to other cities, it is still making a huge, substantial impact all around the world. “We have had great artists that are all coming from Tel Aviv, and I am sure there will be many more to come.” Regardless of where he roams around the world, he always tries to rent a motorcycle at each place he travels to. “When I was in India, I was traveling for a month on a motorcycle, and for me, it’s still one of the craziest experiences I’ve ever had,” he reflects.
Nevertheless, Kino aspires to keep doing what he loves, continue to grow every day, and collaborate with more exceptional artists since he learns something different from each individual he works with, which is so valuable. Over the years, he’s discovered “that everyone has their own path and there are no shortcuts if you want to succeed.” Check out his latest track “How You Feel” as well as his full debut album Chances, which will be released on July 21st on Pop Tomorrow.
